COMPREHENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION

Bay Area Behavioral Connection’s Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation (CDE) Program offers a wide range of diagnostic services to children ages 0-18 and adults needing psychological diagnostic evaluations. The first step of the CDE process is to meet the diagnostic team of Psychologists and Licensed Clinicians for an initial screening interview to determine if further testing and evaluation is necessary. If the screening interview determines further evaluation is warranted, the second step of the CDE process is a comprehensive evaluation and assessment of symptom manifestation. If a screening interview indicates suspected neurodevelopmental disorders, further evaluation and testing is recommended. BABC will use a battery of tests and assessments such as:

  • · The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS)
  • Autism SPectrum Quotient (AQ)
  • · Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R)
  • · Childhood Autism Rating Scales (CARS)
  • · Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales
  • · Batelle Developmental Screening (BDI)
  • · Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers, Revised
  • · Gilliam Autism Rating Scale (GARS)

If Speech and Occupational issues are a concern, we have a team of Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists that can also conduct independent testing.

This thorough diagnostic evaluation would include observation of the child’s behavior in at least 2 settings, review of existing reports, and interview of current caregivers. This process may also include a Speech and Language evaluation as well as a Licensed Speech and Language evaluation. A typical diagnostic evaluation involves a multi-disciplinary team of psychologists, a Speech and Language Pathologist, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst as well as other supporting Clinicians, to provide insight into the  symptom manifestation within the context of the full diagnostic criteria for any developemental, neurodevelopental or psychological diagnosis.

Upon completion of a full comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, a final report will be provided. If all criteria are met according to the The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Illnesses-DSM-5) a full medical diagnosis will be made and described in the full report.
